Journey into Provencher Farms Bison Ranch!
Nestled in the heart of Foxdale, Saskatchewan, Canada, our ranch stands as a testament to a sustainable and environmentally conscious agricultural legacy that began in 1951 with the pioneering spirit of our grandparents. As third-generation caretakers of this land, we uphold the tradition with a deep-seated commitment to ethical ranching and land stewardship.
Utilizing Innovation to Create an Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Ranch
Our operation is anchored by a 250-strong herd of Bison, renowned for their premium genetics, alongside a substantial feeding operation that supports 1,000 head of bison. Complementing our livestock is a 350-acre tract dedicated to organic grain cultivation, affirming our dedication to holistic, eco-friendly ranch practices.
In our quest to harmonize with nature, we employ innovative pasture management techniques that both preserve and invigorate the grasslands. Our rotational grazing system ensures that every seven days, our bison herd is moved to fresh pastures. This practice allows the land time to regenerate and avoids the pitfalls of overgrazing. We enhance soil fertility naturally, using our composted manure, and through winter bale grazing, we ensure our land remains organic and our grasses robust.
Our Way of Life
At the core of our ethos is the welfare of our animals, which we place above all else. We are more than ranchers; we are guardians of the earth and advocates for the creatures under our care.
Our ranch is not merely a business but a way of life that encapsulates diligence, enjoyment, and a profound connection with the land. It is here that we, as a family, cultivate a legacy of respect—for our heritage, our community, and the environment that sustains us all.

All High Plains Bison steaks are 100% Certified Bison—a quality seal that ensures production with strict ranching, animal welfare, food safety, and processing standards.
Never Ever Promise
High Plains Bison are raised the natural way – no growth hormones, antibiotics, steroids, or animal by-products, ever. We proudly adhere to strict, nationally recognized standards for animal welfare, ensuring a healthy life for our bison.
Chilled Exclusively By Air™
Our High Plains Bison products are lovingly crafted in small batches using our unique Chilled Exclusively by Air™ method. This special air-chilling process, instead of the usual liquid methods, locks in the delicious, natural flavors and tenderness, while also enhancing food safety.

Cook to Tenderness
Bison steaks are lean and will lose tenderness when cooked past medium. Even those who order beef well-done will prefer a medium-rare bison steak.
Check the Temperature
Trust your meat thermometer, not your eyes! Use a thermometer to cook your bison steak to the desired doneness.
Love it! Let it Rest
Allow the flavorful Juices to spread before you cut your steak. Let it rest for double the time of beef.
